Ava DuVernay's birth was on the 24th of August, 1972, in Long Beach California. DuVernay was encouraged by her aunt Denise as a little girl. DuVernay worked as a night nurse to allow her aunt the space she required during her day time to enjoy the pleasures of literature, art and theatre. DuVernay was introduced to the 1961 movie West Side Story by her aunt. DuVernay recognized that art is an effective way to spread activism. The summers she spent in Alabama's Selma would be the inspiration for her later the film about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. DuVernay was a graduate from Saint Joseph High School Lakewood California in 1990. In 1990, she graduated from Saint Joseph High school in Lakewood California. When she was in school, DuVernay began to consider producing for the broadcast media. DuVernay began her career as an intern for CBS News during the O.J. Simpson trial. DuVernay was appointed to monitor and investigate the residence for a specific juror. DuVernay was dissatisfied with her journalistic duties and decided to change to the public relations industry. DuVernay got a job right after college as a publicist in the young age of a studio. The DuVernay Agency is her first PR agency. The agency was the first to launch a variety of promotions and lifestyle channels that include Urban Beauty Collective and Urban Eye.
